Leidseplein

The Leidseplein is one of the busiest squares in Amsterdam. It is a real hub of the city and is seen as an important entertainment centre. Something many people do not know is that Leidseplein is so called because it used to be the starting point for a direct road to the city of Leiden. In addition, it is a nice starting point to discover the more than interesting neighbourhood.

There are many pubs, bars and restaurant near Leidseplein. On the Leidseplein itself but also in the direct streets around the Leidseplein you can enjoy a nice meal and drink. Nearby are well-known venues. Paradiso and the Melkweg are in the immediate vicinity and on the Leidseplein itself is the Internationaal Theater Amsterdam (previously Stadsschouwburg) for a luxurious evening away. The casino is also in the immediate vicinity and is also widely visited.

In the summer you have many terraces on the Leidseplein. Sometimes it can also be very busy but cozy! In winter there will be an ice rink and everything is beautifully lit. Especially around the Christmas period it looks very romantic.
