IJ-hallen flea market

There are many people who have never heard of the flea market at the IJ-Hallen, but did you know that this flea market with more than 700 stalls is the largest in Europe? The market takes place once a month in the large halls on the NDSM terrain and you can really find everything you need here. Between the two halls you have an outdoor area where you can also find a large number of stalls.

Again, if you are looking for anything, they have it at this flea market. Second-hand clothes, shoes, antiques, bicycles, books, comics and really a lot more. Many of these products are available at low prices, although there are always traders who know the exact value of various products. Especially when it comes to antiques, furniture and jewellery, you will soon notice this. However, you may be lucky enough to find private individuals who have rented a stall and put their products on it without knowing the value; the so-called super bargains can be found here every month.

Helpful to know
There are a number of things for which it is useful to know in advance:

  • PPaying with cash is the standard here. There are only a few stallholders where you can pay by pin. So bring enough cash and also think of small coins. Not everyone has back a 50 Euro note.
  • It is wise to bring your own bag. Not all stallholders have bags to give away. It is also better for the environment to bring a backpack instead of working with plastic bags.
  • At the end of the day the stallholders want to have as little stuff left as possible, the prices are often lowered and the products often go away at real dumping prices. Great if you want to score some real bargains!
  • In the industrial halls at the NDSM Wharf it can be cold, especially in winter. It is therefore smart to wear warmer clothes. Also in summer it is cool in the halls compared to other places.

How to get there
The easiest way to get to the flea market is to take the ferry from Central Station. With line 906, it takes about 15 minutes to get across the water. When you walk to the right on arrival, it's about a 5-minute walk to the IJ halls.

You can also drive, there are several parking spaces nearby where you can park easily (this is not free!).

When
The Flea Market is one weekend a month. For the current agenda, check out the IJ-hallen website.
