Eye Film Museum

When you are at the Central Station in Amsterdam, you just have to take the ferry to the other side and then take a short walk to the Eye Filmmuseum. The museum is designed by the Austrian architects Roman and Elke Delugan. At the beginning of 2012 the museum was opened to the public.

Filmrooms

The museum has 4 fully modern equipped cinemas with a wide range of films. These can be the old classics to modern films, something for everyone.

Museum Pieces

In addition to watching films in the cinemas, there are also many museum pieces in the museum. There are cameras from all times. The showpiece of the museum is the Mitchell, a 35mm camera which most of the famous films from Hollywood have been recorded with. Furthermore, there are many more film related objects to admire.

Of course, it is also nice to see the recordings made with these museum pieces mentioned above. You can do this in the 360 degree hall. You can see fragments from the past all around you that were made with the cameras you can view in the museum.

Film Database

An extensive film database is available in the museum. You can search for titles, topics and themes of Dutch film history here. Then you can watch this on the screen. For many film connoisseurs and lovers of certain film affairs, this is a popular department in the museum.

Restaurant

The restaurant is just as special as the museum. It is also a much visited place in the museum. Not only is the food of a very good quality but the view is also good. You feel as if you are having dinner on a film set by the water while enjoying the boats passing by on the IJ. The restaurant is an à la carta where you can choose for a simple meal or for an extensive dinner. It's all possible here. The menu varies by season.

Disabled

The Eye Film Museum is accessible for disabled and wheelchair users. Most of the places are accessible by a lift. In the museum there is one wheelchair which you can borrow when needed.
